Tonight, Director Kelly Reichardt returns to the Croisette with her second film in competition and third at Cannes: The Mastermind. Reichardt was last here in 2022 for Showing Up, which competed. The Mastermind's synopsis reads: "In a sedate corner of Massachusetts circa 1970, JB Mooney (Josh O’Connor), an unemployed carpenter turned amateur art thief, plans his first big heist. When things go haywire, his life unravels." The film stars Josh O' Conner, who is also in The History of Sound, another film that premiered here at Cannes this year. The Mastermind will be one of the last films to take on this year's Red Carpet and also this year's Hot Ticket.
